September 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

So you want instant stress relief? Stand up on your chair right now, stick the little finger on your right hand into your left nostril, put your left hand down the back of your pants or skirt and squeeze your right butt cheek and start singing ‘Hey Diddle Diddle, the Cat and the Fiddle’ as loud as you can.

Feel any better? My best guess is that you didn’t even do it, did you? But I can almost guarantee that had you, you will have forgotten what was stressing you out in the first place. If you want instant stress relief I can assure you all you need to do is get a little silly and laugh at yourself.

Stress is of course a very serious issue and we all take our stress very seriously. It affects our emotional and physical well-being putting strain on our minds and bodies. Our stress can also affect negatively those around us.

There are certainly serious stress conditions that life throws at you which are unavoidable and which no amount of silliness or laughing will relieve. We are quite capable of dealing with this type of stress when it comes along. We do however need instant stress relief techniques for the rest of the unnecessary anxiety we put ourselves through on a daily basis.

Anxiety is the reaction to and a symptom of stress and so the two go hand in hand. Instant anxiety relief can also be achieved through similar instant stress relief techniques. Again, though, there are definitely anxiety states where these techniques would not work.

Before we look at some of the things you can do to instantly relieve stress and your anxiety, one important point we want to raise is that a lot of what we do on a daily basis causes us the pointless stress we experience. Much of what stresses us out can honestly be avoided quite easily and as a long term goal this should be where your focus is put.

Ok back to the matter at hand. Something you can do right now to relieve your stress, besides the whole chair and finger in the nose thing, is to check out a page we setup on instant stress relief tips. You’ll see some quick things you can do at your computer which are great for stress relief. Be sure to check out the virtual bubblewrap. It’s great fun.

Of course everyone loves lists and what would an article about instant stress relief be without the top things you can do to relieve stress and anxiety; in list format. So here goes:

The Top 6 and a half things you can do to instantly relieve your stress and anxiety

  1. Grab a pillow, stick you face into it and scream as loud as you can while shaking your head from side to side
  2. Make yourself some chocolate milk, put a straw into the glass and blow bubbles until the milk spills over the edge
  3. If you have kids who are old enough or not too old yet, get yourselves onto the carpet and take turns tickling each other
  4. Put on your favorite rock and roll song and play some air guitar
  5. Run a bubble bath and get into it with all your work clothes still on. Get your partner or spouse to join you
  6. Make pancakes with the whole family and enjoy them outside on the lawn

6½. Phone a close friend or family member and find out what their instant stress reliever is and then do that

Hopefully that has given you a start and it is clear to you exactly what the point is when it comes to instantly relieving your stress or anxiety. If you didn’t then here it is: If you are looking to instantly relieve anxiety or stress the approach is much the same. The important thing to remember is that the best stress relief technique in the world is to just laugh. Laugh until the tears roll down your face or until your sides hurt or both.

How To Build Your Self Esteem…

September 18th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Like many self confidence concepts, raising self esteem is full of mumbo jumbo that has little practical value. Telling someone to have a firm hand shake, look people in the eye, or repeat “I’m somebody” over and over- just isn’t going to do it.

Trust me on this one, improving your self esteem takes action. Heathy self esteem comes from having confidence in your abilities. How do you develop confidence? From being comfortable in who you are and your abilities. How do develop abilities? They same way you get good at anything else in life, by working at it until you get it right. You don’t suddenly wake up one day with ideal self esteem. You work on the things that will make you feel good about yourself until your poor self esteem gradually becomes good self esteem over time.

Let me share something with you that you will never hear from the warm and fuzzy crowd: You have to be willing to make changes. You can’t expect to keep living life like you’ve been living it, and have things change on their own. You have to MAKE them change.

If you want to develop your self esteem, you need to feel good about yourself and your abilities. And there’s no better place to start than how you feel about your physical appearance. Think about it. Do you ever see a professional athlete that’s trying to overcome poor self esteem? If anything, these guys have too much self esteem!

Some of that increased self esteem might come from birth, but I guarantee you that improved self confidence was built from many hours of a hard work and training. This work gave them the foundation for increasing the self esteem they already had.

Let me share something with you that Arnold Schwarzenegger said that few people ever think about:

“Once you have the discipline to affect the shape of your body, you have the discipline to accomplish anything.”

Do you see the hidden key here to more self esteem? You start with the body, and the mind will follow. I call it getting a new body and new life. Would having the discipline to accomplish anything you set your mind to help you overcome poor self esteem?

You bet it would!

Think about how few people you know that can control the shape of their body through proper diet and exercise. Just a fraction of the population- correct? Now tell me how you would feel about yourself if you knew YOU were one of those people. Think about any weight loss success story you’ve ever heard of. Did the person who succeed at that say life is the same- or are they totally excited!

They say things like “I can’t believe my boost in self confidence and self esteem. I feel like a brand new person.”

The same thing happened to me. At age fourty-nine, I totally changed the shape of my body. I was the proverbial 90 pound weakling growing up. As I got older, I became a fat weakling. Then I took control of my body. And it did give me the discipline, courage, and self esteem to accomplish whatever I set my mind to. I quit my job and wrote a book about it. Now I travel and go on the radio giving interviewers and guidance on how anyone can have a new body and life. This is something that I never would of had the self esteem or self confidence to do before.

If I can do it, you can do it. Take control of your poor self esteem by transforming yourself physically first. All it takes is eating right and getting in some challenging exercise. Once you do this, I can promise you, increased self esteem is right around the corner.

The 3 Sedona Method Questions

September 17th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

The Sedona method is a great way to help release all the pent up feelings that otherwise conspire to bring us down.

At its simplest and easiest, the Sedona method gets you to ask yourself a set of three simple questions.

It’s not like your driving test. Whatever your answer, it is correct. The first two questions are either “yes” or “no”. Question 3 just needs you to answer it. More of that later.

Before you can start asking yourself the 3 Sedona questions, you have to find a feeling that is causing you some kind of issue. If this is your first time, start easy. The sound of your computer’s fan, the sniff in your nose that you can’t shift, something simple like that. Nothing too serious to start with!

If you can’t think of anything else, work on the doubt you’ve got about whether the Sedona method works for anyone let alone works for you.

Then take the feeling you’ve decided on and ask yourself the 3 Sedona Method questions

1. Could I let it go?
2. Would I let it go?
3. When?

Go through the questions in order. Don’t move on to the next question before answering. And don’t be surprised if answering these superficially simple questions takes more than a few seconds. When you first meet the Sedona questions, they look simple. But in reality they’re like an iceberg and your conscious mind only sees the tip. That is why they work as well as they do.

As I said previously, questions 1 and 2 have to have an answer of “yes” or “no”. “Maybe” doesn’t count as yes or no. Get off the fence, even if you immediately sit back on it!

The third question is much more open. As with the first two questions, there are no right or wrong answers. The timescale on “when” can be anywhere from immediately to the end of the universe. And anywhere in between.

Then simply go through the Sedona method questions again. With the original feeling if it’s still there. Or with another feeling if the original one has disappeared. Go with the flow here - you’ll know what’s right for you. Either instinctively or as a deep down “gut” reaction.

If you’d like to know more then check my Sedona Method review here.

Anger Management: 5 Really Simple Anger Management Tips

September 15th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Sure, you get angry. Perhaps you're only angry every now and then. Or maybe you're angry most of the time.

The good news is, it’s not your fault that your anger surfaces. It's all those events around you. And those awkward people! You know, the ones who deliberately drive slowly in front of you. The people in line who spend forever getting the right change out of their purse. Your boss at work who always gives you the hardest jobs with the shortest deadlines. It doesn't matter why you've become angry. It’s what to do to get rid of your anger or at least manage your anger that counts.

So what can you do to manage your anger?

1 - Count to ten. S-l-o-w-l-y.

Sure, your mother probably told you to do this when you were child. And you’re not a child any more. Want to know a secret? It works just as well now (maybe even better) than it did when you were younger. If it helps, swear under your breath with each number you count. When you count to ten, do it slowly. It's not a race. Time your breaths to coincide with your counting and make each breath long and deep. Exactly the same when you exhale your breath.

2 - Take a long, deep breath.

Ideally, more than just one. Five or more long, deep breaths will go a long way to managing your anger. Give it a go now, while you're calm and collected. Breathe in. Slowly. Notice the air as it travels down and fills your lungs. Then hold your breath for a second or so. Then exhale slowly, again paying attention to the air leaving you. See your anger leave your body on the crest of this air and watch it dissipate into thin air.

3 - Talk about your anger.

Maybe with your shrink. Or talking with a colleague from work or a friend you can trust one hundred percent. Use this talking to express your thoughts. Ideally not at the top of your voice. Quite often your anger is caused by the straw that broke the camel’s back and can be triggered by something relatively trivial. If you talk about your anger - and maybe don't take yourself quite as seriously during the process - then you'll likely find your anger starts to reduce.

4 - Give yourself some relaxation time.

Anger often works side by side with stress. Relaxation will help to de-stress you. In turn, that will begin to calm your angry feelings. Or at least reduce the amount of time that you're feeling angry. Relaxation takes many forms. Choose one that's best for you. Whether it's a walk in the park. Or a long soak in the bath. Or listen to a specially designed relaxation MP3 that you've found on the internet.

5 - Use hypnosis for anger management.

Using hypnosis can be an easy way to help reduce and manage your anger. It works with you to help change how you react to situations that would have previously made you angry. It's remarkably inexpensive and totally discrete. Check out this hypnosis anger management track for more information.

Covert Hypnosis Is a Recommended Treatment For Anxiety and Stress

September 14th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Stress and anxiety play massive roles in our everyday life these days. Sitting in traffic every morning, going to work in an uncomfortable office, not making enough money, relationship difficulty can all trigger a reaction to stress. To get the most out of their lives by becoming less anxiuos, lessstressed and more open to life and its possibilities more people are turning to covert hypnosis anxiety techniques.

Covert Hypnosis, also known as conversational hypnosis or neuro-linguistic programming has become a buzz word amongst psychologists, motivational speakers, within the wellness industry and all over the world in homes and offices. Covert hypnosis is basically having a conversation with a person’s sub-conscious, using language patterns and body language to alert the sub-conscious to an underlying message or key phrase whilst the person is fully awake as well as unaware. Covert hypnosis anxiety techniques are exactly this, with the underlying message being that the person needs to relax, and using language to assist them in doing so.

When in a hypnotic state via covert hypnosis anxiety techniques, we are almost in a dreamlike state where we are more in touch with our sub-conscious, which is the gateway to our feelings. What better position to be in to manipulate our emotive state into a more positive, less anxious and stress free condition.

By using these covert hypnosis anxiety techniques, you can completely overcome anxiety and stress related issues. You can visit someone who knows how to practice conversational hypnosis, or you can do this either by administering it yourself, with the help of an audio cd or cassette. If you are intending to do it yourself, audio cd’s are a brilliant way to carry this out, as you can do it in the comfort of your own home and in your own time.

When it comes to stress and anxiety, one thing can be confirmed: that we are responsible for a large portion of the way that we feel because of the way that we think. Often life can become stressful, but we make it worse by worrying and concerning ourselves with negative outcomes instead of focusing on the positive. Covert hypnosis anxiety techniques are a brilliant source of help in this case as they can completely change the manner in which we think. If focus is diverted from the stress trigger and the symptomatic responce to this, we can ultimately find a solution and free ourselves from the stress. Conversational hypnosis has helped thousands of people with this common dilemma.

It is estimated that between 75 and 90% of all visits to hypnotists and conversational hypnosis specialists are for the treatment of stress and anxiety. In this day and age there has never been a more desperate need for covert hypnosis anxiety techniques to assist people in living normal, happy lives. To get much more out of life instead of just coping is much more enjoyable when armed with the correct approach.
